Greatest LA Films Ever

This will be a continually growing post and I need your help to improve it. I’m trying to put together a list of the Greatest LA Films Ever. Conditions: 1) LA, “LA-ness”, or Southern California more generally, must be an integral character in the film. 2) The film must be truly outstanding in one way or another.

Here’s what I have now off the top of my head, in no particular order. Feel free to add yours in the comments section. I’ll add them below if I feel that they’re worthy, or allow you to persuade me through argument if I’m uncertain. Thanks.

Chinatown
Sunset Boulevard
Short Cuts
The Player
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Double Indemnity
Menace II Society
Boogie Nights
Magnolia
There Will Be Blood
Crash
Training Day
L.A. Confidential
Ed Wood
Boyz ‘n the Hood
American Me
Stand and Deliver
Blade Runner (future LA counts)…
L.A. Story
Mulholland Drive
The Big Lebowski
